Milan Nalimov — The Sound Of Us

You leave your coffee cooling by the door.
Your red scarf folded on the chair.
I count the steps from here to yours as if the count could take me there.
Say my name and let the room be silent.
If we are done, or only love allows.
Stand apart and still reach out.
Come back, come back, my heart is open.
No locked door, no final word.
Come back, come back, the vow is spoken.
I still know the sound of us.
The market seller saves your place.
The old stone square remembers rain.
I see your smile in every face, then turn and lose it all again.
My name and let the room be silent.
If we are done, or only love allows.
